“We look forward to an in-depth conversation about how culture and cultural heritage are defined, selected and institutionalized”, say the coordinators of the Heritage Academy, Jenny Högström Berntson and Vivian Smits. At this year's Heritage Fair, we examine the possibilities and dilemmas of the cultural heritage canon in a time of rapid change.

The afternoon will revolve around questions such as "Who do we include or exclude through our choices ?" and "How does canon formation affect collective memory and future heritage narratives?".

The conference will be an opportunity for participants to learn more about the process of developing a Swedish cultural canon and discuss cultural heritage futures.

Speakers include Lars Trägårdh, professor of history and chair of the committee tasked with developing a Swedish cultural canon, Åsa Arping, professor of literary studies at the University Av�԰�, and Cornelius Holtorf, UNESCO professor in Heritage Futures, Linnaeus University.

The afternoon program will be led by Lena Ulrika Rudeke, operations and program manager for the University Av�԰�'s Jonsered Manor, coordinator for UNESCO City of Literature Gothenburg, and member of the Centre for Critical Heritage Studies (CCHS) advisory board.
