Artistically Speaking on Theatre in Georgia

Published

Following the recent elections in Georgia, the situation for artists and other cultural workers has changed rapidly. But despite the fact that protests are often violently suppressed, they continue to demonstrate. In this conversation, we meet Data Tavadze, artistic director of the Royal District Theatre in Tbilisi, a theatre in clear opposition to the country's new government.

Data Tavadze talks about the role of culture in a time of authoritarian rule and protests.

Jesper S枚derblom, actor at Gothenburg City Theatre, and Catharina Bergil, Head of unit at the Academy of Music and Drama, conduct the interview.
