Research Infrastructure
In order to conduct cutting-edge research, researchers need access to advanced tools – which is called research infrastructure.
Research infrastructure includes databases and calculation tools, but can also include forums where researchers can share thoughts and ideas. There are four research infrastructures at the Faculty of Humanities.

Språkbanken Text is a national e-infrastructure that supports research based on linguistic data. Our contribution is making modern and historical Swedish texts freely available in digital formats for the purposes of research. We produce computational linguistics research tools that analyse texts for sophisticated searches and enrich them for further research. We conduct our own research in computational linguistics and artificial intelligence, as well as in linguistics, digital humanities, and digital social science in cooperation with researchers in other disciplines.

Digital humanities
Digital Humanities works to promote research, education and collaborations related to digital phenomena or using digital methods. This can involve digitising materials so they can be processed in new ways, or studying materials and forms of cultural expression that have emerged specifically because of digitisation. This helps us to understand how culture and society change. The Research Infrastructure in Digital Humanities permits new combinations of quantitative and qualitative methods and is based on an interdisciplinary cooperation.

Swedish Rock Art Research Archives
Swedish Rock Art Research Archives (SHFA) is a research infrastructure that makes rock carving documentation available to researchers, education and the public. Through a web-based digital research archive, everyone can access modern and historic rock art documentation.
For many years, the Swedish Rock Art Research Archives has been at the forefront of rock art documentation and research including digital documentation, artificial intelligence, international Bronze Age research and cross-cultural studies on rock art.

Visual research
GPS400: the Centre for Collaborative Visual Research develops new methods and models that visually take stock of, survey, analyse, and provide access to local and regional places, activities, actors, and cultures. The intention is to promote public engagement and interest in the past, present, and future of their local environments.
